Dr. Tara Singh Shergill of Seremban took over as the second President and continued the good work of his predecessor and enhanced the awareness of MSU amongst the Sikhs and non-Sikhs throughout the country.

Sardar Nasib Singh

1952 – 1953

Sardar Nasib Singh of Sentul, Kuala Lumpur took over as the third President of the MSU and further consolidated the organization, enabling the MSU to further its various activities for the benefit of the community, including the establishment of religious classes in Gurdwaras.

Dato T Mahima Singh

1953 – 1984

At this juncture Dato’ T. Mahima Singh of Seremban took over as the 4th President. During his tenure as President, he was elected to Parliament from Port Dickson and thus became the first Sikh Member of Parliament.

To revive the MSU a pro-tem committee was set up in mid 1984 with Datuk Dr. Keshmahinder Singh as Chairman and Sardar Satwant Singh Aluwalia as its Secretary.

1998 – 1990

Dato’ Gurdial Singh Gill or more fondly known as Dato’ GS Gill, of Kuala Lumpur took over the helm as the 6th President of MSU.

Dato Darshan Singh

Dato’ Darshan Singh Gill

1990 – 1994

Dato’ Darshan Singh Gill of Ipoh, became the 7th President of MSU. During his tenure MSU expanded to all the States of Malaysia, thereby increasing the number of Branches and the membership.

Dato Dr Mohan Singh Pannu

1994 – 1998

Having been involved in the MSU since its revival, first as the General Secretary from 1986 to 1990 and then as the Deputy President from 1990 to 1992, Lt. Col. (Rtd) Dato’ Dr. Mohan introduced a new facet into the MSU activities, that of Punjabi Culture by sponsoring “DCS Cultural Group” from England in 1995 and the “Bombay Talkie” from Scotland in 1997.

Sardar Sukhveer Singh Sidhu, of Kuala Lumpur, added a new chapter to the list of MSU activities, education seminars for the benefit of the young and old. These included seminars on Self Improvement, Information Technology (IT), and Social and Matrimonial Problems faced by Sikhs Youth.

Dato’ Ir. Mokkam Singh Bhullar

2002 – 2006

Dato’ Ir. Mokkam Singh Bhullar, from Johor Bahru took over as the 10th President. Realizing the need to put MSU on a strong financial standing to further help the organizations activities, Dato’ Ir. Mokkam Singh strove to and succeeded in obtaining funds amounting to RM 100,000, providing a welcome shot in the arm for MSU.

Datuk Dr. Jasbir Singh Pannu

2006 – 2010

Prior to taking up as the 11th MSU President, Datuk Dr. Jasbir Singh Pannu has served the MSU in various capacities. He is the longest serving Council Member, having been first appointed to the post in 1986. He was the MSU Assistant Secretary from 1990 t0 1992, the General Secretary from 1994 to 1998, and Deputy President 2002 to 2006.

2010 - 2014

Served as the Deputy President from 2006 – 2010 before moving on to become the President in the year 2010.

He was the longest serving Council Member and Member of the Executive Committee. Actively involved in organizing various events at both state and national level.
